  • Calisolar - Manufacture of solar cells using "dirty" metallurgical grade silicon. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.
  • Calyxo- Manufactures thin-film modules based on cadmiumtelluride-(CdTe-) technology. Currently ramping up production from 25 MWp to 60 MWp capacity in 2009.
  • Covalent Solar-New company.
  • DayStar Technologies- Manufacturer of thin film photovoltaic products. First production modules expected in the 1st quarter of 2009. Headquartered in Santa Clara, CA.
  • Dyesol- Focused on development and launch of manufacturing of Dye Solar Cell technology. Headquartered in Australia.
  • First Solar- Largest manufacturer of thin film solar modules, with capacity of 720 MW in 2008. Expected to rise to 1 GW by late-2009.
  • Fuji Electric Systems-Manufacturers of thin film-type amorphous solar cells.
  • G24 Innovations- Developer and manufacturer of lightweight, thin film flexible solar cells. Based in Cardiff, England.
  • Global Solar EnergyManufacturer of thin-film photovoltaic Copper Indium Gallium DiSelenide (CIGS) solar cells. Based in Tucson, AZ, with manufacturing there and in Germany.
  • heliatek- Engaged in the development and production of organic solar cells. Founded in 2006 and based in Germany.
  • HelioVolt- Manufacturer of Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) solar cells. Based in Austin, TX.
  • Honda Soltec- Manufacturer of CIGS solar cells.
  • Innovalight- Developer of silicon ink solar technology. Based in Sunnyvale, CA.
  • JA Solar Holdings- Manufacturer of mono-crystalline silicon solar cells, which are sold to solar module manufacturers. Based in Shanghai, China.
  • Johanna Solar Technology- Manufacturer of thin film solar modules, utilitizing copper, indium, gallium, sulphur, and selenium (CIGSSe). Based in Germany.
  • Kaneka- Manufacturer of thin-film photovoltaic modules.
  • Konarka Technologies- Developer of nano-enabled polymer photovoltaic materials. Based in Lowell, Massachusetts, USA.
  • Miasole- Developer of Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) solar products. Based in Santa Clara, California.
  • Mitsubishi Heavy Industries- Manufacturer of thin film PV modules.
  • Nanosolar- Developer and manufacturer of roll-print thin-film solar cells. Claims to have the lowest-cost solar panels. Currently building the world's largest solar cell factory in California and the world's largest panel-assembly factory in Germany.

  • Oerlikon Solar- Developer and manufacturer of solar product production solutions. Based in Switerland.
  • Plextronics- Developer of printed solar electronics using organic solar cells and OLEDs (Organic Light Emitting Diode). Based in Pittsburgh, PA.
  • PrimeStar Solar- Manufacturer of thin film PV modules. Based in Golden, CO.
